World RX: EKSRX Audi ready for the Italian Job

EKSRX Press Release

Italy, here we come! After missing the victory in the German FIA World Rallycross Championship round by just 0.005s – less than the size of a GoPro or the diameter of a Red Bull can – EKS RX is ready for the next challenge: In round ten at Franciacorta, EKS RX regular Pontus Tidemand will be joined by wild card driver Edward Sandström for the third time this season. The track is new for RX, so everybody will start at the same level and will have to learn and adapt quickly.

EKS RX founder Mattias Ekström visited Franciacorta earlier this year for the World RX presentation and was able to give some information about the Italian track to Pontus and Edward. The two Audi S1 EKS RX are back in perfect shape and the team has travelled the 1,200 kms directly from Estering to Franciacorta. How do the Italians say? In bocca al lupo!

#5 Pontus Tidemand (SWE) _ RX Events: 6 _ Best result: P4 (Estering 2014)
“I’m really looking forward to Franciacorta – not only because of the perfect Italian food our chef Jonas will serve :-) After three consecutive World RX finals and my best result so far in Germany last weekend, my target for Italy is to reach the podium and go for the victory.”

#79 Edward Sandström (SWE) _ RX Events: 2 _ Best result: P13 (Mettet 2014)
“My goal is to win the event. I know it’s a big task that requires a lot of focus, clean starts and maximum attack through all heats and finals. But Italy is one of my favourite countries and I have a good feeling. I know I have the speed and I can do it.”

No, there will be no Mini World RX this time at EKS Fridays after the Volkswagen drivers took all our prizes last weekend, but it will be worth to join us again on Friday at 17.00 for drinks, Italian food and chats in the EKS tent ... EKS RX expects once again many guests this weekend including some friends from Audi Sport Italia ... Audi S1 in Italy? Yes, there has been something special in the past: Walter Röhrl scored the only WRC victory of the famous Audi Sport quattro S1 at the Rally San Remo back in 1985. Did you know it had less horsepower than our little S1 EKS RX?
