Transit Connect sales, meanwhile, were up 49% to 350 units, far more than double the combined figure of its two rivals, the Nissan NV200 and Ram Cargo Van.

The full-size sector is increasingly competitive, though still controlled by General Motors and Ford. Ram's ProMaster earned 9.4% of Canada's full-size commercial van category in October 2014. The Nissan NV was at a disappointing 2.6%. But Mercedes-Benz's Sprinter, with 299 sales, grabbed 14.6% of the market.

That left 57% for General Motors, with the Chevrolet Express and top-selling GMC Savana and 16.3% for Ford.
