Top 20 Best-Selling SUVs In Canada - May 2014

2014 Ford Escape red
In May 2014, for the fifth consecutive month, the Ford Escape was Canada's top-selling utility vehicle. No SUV or crossover came within 1975 sales of the Escape. The next-best-selling crossover, Toyota's RAV4, achieved its second-highest-volume Canadian sales month in the model's history.

And yet, Escape sales were far in excess of what the RAV4 or all but six vehicles could manage in May 2014. The Escape was one of three Fords in the top 14 on this list of the 20 best-selling SUVs and crossovers.

The RAV4 was joined by the 19th-ranked Toyota Highlander. Jeep landed three SUVs in the top 20; Chrysler also placed with the seventh-ranked Dodge Journey. There were three GM products, two Hyundais and one Kia, and single entries from Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, and Volkswagen.

Only three of the 20 top sellers recorded year-over-year declines in May, not a surprising result given the rise of this vehicle category and the fact that auto sales have never been higher than they were in May 2014.

Historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any of these best-selling SUVs and crossovers can always be accessed through the dropdown menu at GCBC's Sales Stats page, and for those not viewing the mobile version of this site, near the top right of this page, as well.
